[02] SINK OR SWIM: Experimental Publication
A reontextualization of text and imagery from Su Friedrich’s Sink or Swim video essay, translating sections of her short stories into an experimental publication embedded within domestic space. Referencing the persistence of childhood trauma into adulthood, the project treats furniture as both container and archive.
The work takes the form of childhood bedroom furniture, each piece housing a bound text within its structure. These embedded books disrupt function and position reading as excavation, framing trauma as something materially carried forward rather than resolved.
